Why Denver Is A Great Place For Small Businesses?

Colorado employment is increasing, and Denver is still a top startup and fintech city. According to recent national research, Denver is one of the top cities in the country for entrepreneurs to start their businesses, or at least those who are considering doing so.

Denver came in at No. 10 in the most recent WalletHub assessment of the top big cities for company startups. The study took into account 19 variables, ranging from the five-year firm survival rate to the cost of office space. It examined the 100 largest American cities and condensed these measures into three crucial factors: the business climate, resource accessibility, and business expenses.

Simple Access To Either Coast

In terms of business, many individuals only consider the East and West Coasts. However, to ignore the intermountain area would be a mistake. Due to its proximity to both coasts, Denver’s center location has proved beneficial to emerging entrepreneurs. Flying is relatively affordable in both cases. Along with lower prices, the transit time is also shorter.

More Diversity

Many female and minority entrepreneurs have found success in the city thanks to its open attitude. This stands in stark contrast to the diversity issues that beset the startup ecosystem in locations like Silicon Valley and New York City. Denver was even rated by Business Org as the best location for young female entrepreneurs. To level the playing field, it is beneficial that public authorities actively assist more entrepreneurs from disadvantaged groups.

A feeling of community

Finding assistance and even mentorship is not straightforward given the city’s expanding startup environment. Denver’s neighborhood is less competitive and more cohesive than larger cities. This has made it possible for numerous enterprises across numerous industries to succeed.

There are also startup campuses created to support the development and success of new firms. Many corporations have relied heavily on their willingness to support other companies. By assisting start-up enterprises, these companies in turn contribute back to the neighborhood. The Denver startup scene has grown to be known for this trait. This sense of belonging cannot be easily found elsewhere.

Level of Living

If you enjoy being outdoorsy and active, Denver is a great city to live because there are so many activities to do and places to see. The fact that living expenses are reasonably cheap makes this situation even better. Additionally, some of the top medical facilities and universities are nearby. It is astounding to consider that this area’s cost of living is only slightly more than the median cost nationwide.

Because residents are often happier and less stressed than those in other major American cities, the city is business-friendly. Additionally, because rent and other needs are affordable, firms may stretch their budgets further. Companies can spend the extra money on other things rather than increasing their office space costs.

Tax incentives and low taxes

In keeping with the previous argument, the state’s job growth incentive tax program provides firms with income tax credits for employment they create. In economically disadvantaged areas or enterprise zones, tax credits are available for business relocation, business expansion, new business development, and job creation.

Denver may impose a $4 to $5.75 per employee head tax each month, but businesses benefit from the low corporate tax rate. One of the select few states with the fourth-lowest flat income tax in the US is Colorado.

Talent Availability

The educated workforce has been utilized by businesses as well. With the highest rates of high school and college graduation among American cities, Denver is one of the most educated. The nearby universities include Colorado State University, University of Denver, Colorado School of Mines, and University of Colorado. Since the city has such a large talent pool, startups won’t have any trouble hiring there.

Millennials from across the nation are moving to the Mile High City in addition to the local talent. After all, Fortune 500 firms like Facebook and Amazon now have offices in this region. Denver has seen significant transformation since it was previously unthinkable for investors from the coast to open an office there (https://www.axios.com/local/denver/2022/01/19/vc-funding-denver-startups-skyrockets). Future predictions indicate that this transition will continue.

The End Note:

Denver really merits its reputation as a great location for startup companies. It is a friendly city with a strong feeling of community, government assistance, advantageous tax rules, a low cost of living, a high standard of living, and diversity. For these reasons, the Mile High City is drawing aspiring business owners and bright young individuals.

Top 5 Colorado Ski Resort Destinations

How To Choose a Ski Resort

I did not start skiing as a hobby until I ended up moving to Colorado for an employment opportunity. Quickly, I came to realize that individual ski resorts around the state each have their own unique personality traits (so to speak) that help skiers and boarders find their best fit for a day out. Things that make one ski resort vary from another include the ambiance and accommodations. What are the hotels, restaurants, and bars like? Is the resort best suited for families and adults? Are the services provided adequately for experienced skiers, or is the resort location best suited for beginners? These are a few questions it is important that we need to ask ourselves before checking out a new ski resort or booking our next ski vacation.

Aspen – A classic, luxury ski vacation resort destination for new and experienced skiers alike.

No list of Colorado ski destinations would be complete without mentioning the high-class, well-known destination for those who hold themselves to the highest standards – Aspen, colorado. Aspen Highlands, AJAX, and Buttermilk mountains each have a variety of runs, favored by skiers who come to visit from around the world. Fine dining and luxury hotels line the streets.

Snowmass – Homey charm and hills friendly for beginners, snowboarders, and experts all the same.

Just outside of Aspen is Snowmass Mountain. This mountain is a favorite of both skiers and snowboarders, with an excellent variety of runs and more affordable food and drink for the less luxury-oriented traveler. May I suggest Base Camp Restaurant for a simple meal before or after skiing?

Breckenridge – A local favorite for laid-back ski days and meeting up with friends.

For Colorado residents, resorts like Aspen and Snowmass can feel over-hyped or too busy from time to time. Breckenridge has a cool, kicked-back vibe and is perfect for younger Colorado residents making a day or weekend trip to hit some fresh powder and enjoy that “steep and deep.”

Vail – Easy to access comfort with an upscale attitude and a variety of runs.

One alternative to the Aspen – Snowmass area is Vail, Colorado. Also known for luxury accommodations and fine dining, this ski town does not have four mountains but does have four exits for easy access when making the drive to visit. There is plenty to do for those who enjoy shopping, nature, and apres-ski afternoons spent sipping cocktails by a crackling fire.

Winter Park – Your new hotspot for celebrity sightings and killer ski runs.

Many celebrities share tweets and Instagram posts while enjoying the winter weather in the aptly named city of Winter Park, Colorado. This ski destination city is known for cool, fully accommodated temporary rentals and for its varied ski runs that appeal to locals and visitors alike. Don’t forget the great rental shops at this resort, where it is a blast to try out the latest release skis at a fraction of the cost that would be associated with the purchase.

Wherever you choose to ski, stay safe and have fun. This upcoming ski season is the perfect time to hone your skills and try out a new destination for skiing and visiting. My personal recommendations – try as many different resorts out as you possibly can!

Things You Need To Consider If You Want To Be A Doctor

Occasionally, many points of view develop surrounding what a day in the life of a doctor is like. What’s more is that most, if not all, have truth behind them. The stress, pressure, lack of sleep, and the long commitment are only a few examples of what a doctor will experience. There are also times where misconceptions seem to be the norm, such as doctors having a fat bank account. This is nowhere near the truth because the huge amount of student debt that they have acquired will sometimes outweigh their annual salary. No matter what, there will always be things to consider before you trek down your chosen career, and for a doctor, we have a few listed below that will give you a heads up on what to expect.

 1. Having no life outside of work

The life you had will soon disappear once you step into the first hospital you work at. This is due to the level of commitment you must have. This means no more weekends off, holiday parties, or nights at home enjoying a flick. You are expected to always be available for any and all hours, and shifts and vacations are never guaranteed.

 2. You will likely be indecisive about the specialty you want to pursue

When you are in medical school, you will likely become indecisive on which specialty you want to specialize in until you are near graduation. There are many medical students who get into medicine with the thought of being able to help those in need but are clueless about what they want for themselves. Although this does not happen to all, it is considered to be normal and nothing to worry about.

 3. The Specialty You Select Is the One You Stick To

Unfortunately, a doctor is unable to change thief specialty as easily as any other career without first needing more schooling. If it was so easy, then there would probably be more of one type of specialty than all of the rest in medicine. So when you decide to choose, take everything into account before leaping in.

 4. You can expect shifts to be a lot longer than 24 hours

Besides the normal shift lasting 24 hours, you can expect it to go much longer and even past 30 hours in some instances. A lot of extra time also goes into it, such as the dive to the wok, meal beaks, and paperwork that need to be completed before you leave. Then when you get home, you may have family errands to take care of. Ultimately, when you get everything said and done, you will likely be out sleeping another 24 hours.

 5. Be Beyond the Best

Being a doctor will require you to become and remain strict with the way you do things, as well as having yourself well-organized throughout your medical schooling. However, you also need to be even more so as soon as you obtain the license to practice medicine. You will see many of your colleagues having a high amount of dedication and doing everything perfectly throughout the day. You need to be sure that all of your time can be made available for your job to be able to become and remain the best.

 6. Don’t expect to be the Biggest Brain

It is ok to think that you were the smartest medical student. However, once you get into the real world, you may have your eyes opened by even more people who are also highly intelligent. You need to understand this so that you will be able to work cohesively as a medical team. You may find it difficult to adjust knowing this, (https://blog.accepted.com/what-to-expect-after-medical-school/) but you will just need to lay the thought aside and concentrate on the patients.

 7. You are only as smart as you think you are

It is good to start now to realize that you are only as smart as you think you are and will not know how to fix everything.

As time passes, you’ll see yourself with an increased amount of knowledge that you can use in your specialty. The good thing with this is that many new treatments and medicines are always being developed, so you will have a wide range of available options.

How Much Does Search Engine Optimization Really Cost?

Happy President’s day! To celebrate, we wrote our next post :)… If you’ve ever called around, in our city or any city, getting quotes for search engine optimization services, you’ll notice several things. First you’ll realize that competition is fierce as there are tons of businesses offering search optimization services. Second, once you start contacting these people and getting estimates for their cost of services, you will see that prices range wildly. This actually is not really all that surprising with all the SEO Denver has to offer.

Some agencies will charge upwards of $10,000 per month. Granted this will probably include up-sells, like Google Ads or Youtube marketing, but wow, it is a lot. You will find other “companies” that charge a flat fee of maybe $100. We put companies in quotes because these are usually an individual that is looking to make a quick buck from people who don’t really understand what search engine optimization entails and a liable to getting swindled.

Don’t be afraid to ask hard questions

A good way to keep yourself from paying too much for optimization services is to have a thorough vetting process. Part of this process should include a list of questions to ask. These should include what you are paying for, what exactly they will be doing for you, how you will track their progress and how it works if you don’t want to work with them anymore.

It may be hard for you to ask direct questions like this, but it is important and completely worth it. A true professional will not mind being asked these questions. If they get upset when you ask these questions of fumble when answering, that is a bad sign.

It varies because not all services are created equal

Ultimately, not all agencies are created equal, so why should the prices they charge be equal? Some people will provide better attention to you while others will not answer the phone as often. If that is important to you it may be worth paying more for that. Or maybe you are most concerned about results so can forgive them if you don’t get along with them that well.

We would recommend not doing a yearly contract in case you aren’t happy with the services or results. This allows you to switch providers and compare and contrast who is best. You can always go back to your first provider if the second or third ones are not as good. Keep in mind though that results aren’t instantaneous.

Ask for a cost benefit analysis and do it yourself

Using a few free tools, you can get an idea of how much money there is to be made by being on the first page of Google, particularly the number one spot. If you are a lawyer there is a lot of money to be made there. If you are a handyman, it may not be worth it to pay for search services. To calculate it, you need to know the conversion rate of new leads and how much an average client is worth to you.

Once you have an idea of how much money can make by being number one or in the top three, you can decide how much you can afford to pay for services. It won’t necessarily be an easy decision. Maybe you can afford one provider and not the other, but maybe the one you can’t afford will actually get you to number one and they one you can afford can’t and you’ll end up losing money. This is why it is be good to ask for client samples as part of the vetting process.

Happy Martin Luther King Day

Let’s never forget that all humans have the basic unalienable human rights of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. We couldn’t be posting on this blog without them and you couldn’t be reading it. Let’s keep fighting the good fight.

How To Make Money With An Affiliate Website

It seems like recently a lot of our SEO contacts have been clamoring about how badly they want to get into affiliate marketing. If you are not familiar with what affiliate marketing is, it is a way to get money through commissions by selling products for other people. There are many websites that allow you to sell their products as an affiliate. The largest one is Amazon as they will let you sell essentially anything on their website with commissions ranging from around 1% to 10%. You’d be surprised at how many sellers have affiliate programs. Another big one is ClickBank.

If you know SEO, you know the potential of affiliate

The neat thing about affiliate marketing is that SEO is the backbone of any successful affiliate site. So it is with good reason that our SEO friends are excited about getting into it. Why not? Once you have your site ranked on page one, you can sit back and make money while you sleep.

Think of it as investing in digital real estate. Affiliate marketing is a great form of passive income and you don’t have to invests hundreds of thousands of dollars like real estate investors. This isn’t to say that you don’t have to invest a lot of time and money to get a site ranked. Because it is the dream of many, it is very competitive, especially certain niches like health related ones.

Prepare for the long haul

It takes a long time to rank well in Google now. It can take up to two years to get a site on page one in competitive niches. In more niched down niches it can still take a year. Like that song says, the waiting is the hard part, but after those few years you can rest assured knowing that you’ve put in the time and effort to get a good quality website ranking.

Also, since affiliate is so competitive you may not be able completely sit back and relax after you’ve ranked. That is because the people behind you will be trying their darnedest to surpass you. But if you have your technique down well, you shouldn’t have to work to hard and you can automate many of the processes.

The best strategy is to start small

If you are just getting started with affiliate you should start with a very specialized niche and some long tail keywords since those are easier to rank for and will help you get your feet wet. Think something like “best green and pink pinstriped tank tops for 5 and half year old girls who like to draw”. Ok maybe you don’t have to be the niched down, but you get the point.

The other benefit to this is that smaller sites require less time and resources. Starting out you are sure to make some mistakes. It is best that you mistakes with a small niche so that if you mess up big, you won’t have as much sunk cost. Knowing this should give you the confidence to be bold in you process and really swing for the fences. If you strikeout, you can easily get up and start again.

Get creative

A lot of people just go straight to Amazon and stick with it. That could be good starting out, but eventually you will want to broaden your horizons. If you dig a little deeper you can find amazing private affiliate programs with great payouts. Also think about affiliates that charge on a recurring basis and try and get it on that. It is the gift that keeps on giving!

Happy New Decade!

Save Denver ComicCon SEO wants to wish everyone a Happy New Year! We are excited for 2020 and believe it will be full of great surprises. We got a little busy in 2019 but will continue to post throughout the coming months. It is our privilege to be a part of your life this year.

How to Use SEO as Promotion For Your Company

If you really want to get more clients then Denver is a great location. There are so many people moving into Denver everyday it is ridiculous. Just look around and you’ll see giant apartment complexes popping up on just about every corner! But if you really want to be successful, you need more than an ideal locale.

Because there is so much solid traffic in Denver you better believe that competition will be through the roof. We aren’t the first one with the idea of doing this! Therefore, results won’t be easy to come by and you will have to be committed for the long haul. Here are some things to keep in mind as you begin the journey.

Know what you are getting into

When choosing your consultant you simply must have a list of qualifying questions. One of those should have something to do with expectations. After all, in this field, you do not get results over night. This is especially true if your domain is only a few months old. If you have a new domain and someone tells you they can get you on the first page in a month or two, run for the door!

Not all keywords are created equal and this will also determine how long it will take to get results. You also need to have an idea of how many people will visit your website as a result of getting on page 1 of Google. If there just isn’t enough people searching for your terms, you may not be able to break even. Knowing this will keep you from being surprised and help you practice patience throughout the process.

Pay-per-click is a real option

Some people think PPC is only for giant corporations with money to blow on advertising, but that isn’t necessarily true. It can be a great option for advertising your business. It is actually a good way to place ads because you don’t pay unless someone actually clicks on the link to your website. With many ads you have to pay just for placement and some people may never even click.

The only downside of this method is that you will be missing out on over half of your target audience. Why is that? Reports vary, but it is estimated that around half of users click on paid ads (see one report here). That means over half of people will skip right past you ad to the organic results. Still you can get immediate results using this method which is why it is such a great option.

Think outside the box

It can be easy to be so focused on Google that you forget that there is an endless supply of sites where you could also be getting visibility. Think YouTube and social media and weblogs. You can even contact owners of other sides to see if they will accept a piece from you promoting your business. You could even consider social media marketing, but that is worthy of its own post.

Your focus should always be on bringing in more traffic and you should think long and hard about how to do that. After all, the more traffic you get the more money you will be taking in. Get creative and have fun. The opportunities really are endless!

You can do it

It may seem overwhelming when you first start, but the key is to stay focused and not give in to negative self talk. Whenever you have doubts, ignore them and keep going. Take action every day and before you know it, you’ll be right where you want to be. Now get out there and get some new customers!
