Charlies Official Response: Thank You for your support

Save Denver Comic Con

Working for Denver Comic Con

I want to first thank everyone, who reached out, called or emailed me, whether it was with concerns, questions, encouragement, love or words of support. After the last eight months of so much pain and strife it felt so good to hear from so many people and I can’t express what that means to me.

I would also like to thank the Board at Comic Book Classroom and Denver Comic Con for taking the time to address our concerns. Our goal and my open letter was never to create an online ‘civil war’ but bring things to light and a true focus back onto the kids, the mission and values of the Comic Book Classroom Charter.

This is exactly why we called it “Save” Denver Comic Con. I love this community and what we created more than anything — and I am delighted by the energy and response we received to assist Save Denver Comic Con in continuing teaching kids and the call to action to re-energize the Board to communicate and to get more classes scheduled and announced.

We’ve seen the comments and posts and we are committed to not letting this become a “he said/she said” internet battle. This is about community and an open discussion. That said, I will be making a full statement and response at the Town Hall Meeting this Sunday.

We would like to invite all members of the community including members of the Comic Book Classroom / Denver Comic Con Board of Directors to attend on Feb 23rd at 3 PM at the Dead Academy so we can address our concerns in a public forum. We would like to invite everyone to this meeting so we can have an open, transparent and safe dialog about the course of events over the last 8 months. In the spirit of good will and transparency, if needed, we will have a moderator at the meeting to ensure the conversation is productive and meets the needs of all who attend.

Please register for the town hall meeting on our official Facebook Evite so we can account for all of the people who might attend, and lastly we are working on creating a live stream so community members around the country can also join the conversation.

This meeting is open to the public and if you would like specific items to be addressed we are taking input to the agenda. Please fill in our online form here with a proposal on what you would like to discuss.

Thanks again for your continued support.

A child’s imagination is their most powerful tool to affect and change the world around us. Our original purpose was to ignite those imaginations. Despite these struggles, I still have faith in the good of people and I believe that imagination along with hard work and dedication can overcome anything.
